Fully Hydrogenated Oil

May 15, 2007 by in Nutrition with No Comments

Now if partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are bad for you how does fully hydrogenated rank? It may sound like an oxymoron but “fully hydrogenated” is a healthier fat.

Fully hydrogenated fats have the consistency of candle wax making them too hard to be used on their own. In order to make these fats user friendly they are mixed with oil, preferably soy oil. Even though a fully hydrogenated oil is a saturated fat when mixed with soy oil this creates a fat that is high in stearic acid; this results in a fat that is easy on your arteries.

Liquid oil is still your best choice but “fully hydrogenated” is a much better choice than “partially Hydrogenated”
